Dear Angels

It's Christmas.....  and, we'd like to take this opportunity to wish you and your family a very merry Christmas and all our very best wishes for a happy, healthy and prosperous 2009.

We have some very important information below regarding your virtual angels profile.  Please make sure you read this section - click to read now

In this issue we would like to introduce our Featured Angel segment - Our first featured Angel is Judith Bell who is working as a VA in Melbourne.

Due to client demand we are now offering Angels for work at a client's site, with some flexibility in hours - mainly to fit around school parents.  To find out more about this, click here to read the article now.  We welcome your feedback on this.

If you would like to have your say - we welcome editorials and contributors for the newsletters, please email us for details. Click here for our feedback form

In the meantime, we look forward to working with you all (hopefully!) Santa.jpgin 2009.

Have a great festive season and we hope that Santa is good to you.....

Best regards

Suzanne, Caroline & Chris

The Virtual Angels Team

NEWS

Further to our article from the last newsletter which was about Support for the W.A.H.M.  we decided that we would find out how many people out there weren't necessarily tied to the home but wanted to work around their family commitments - for example school hours.

The response to our ad as usual, was great and we have now recruited another 300 Angels, most of whom are willing to work at a clients site.  If you are one of the new Angels - welcome on board.  You should read the last newsletter if you get chance - available here - If you were already registered as an Angel but think you would be available to work away from your home there are now new options for your profile in Work Preferences and Willing to Travel.  The new options are:

  • Yes - will work at a client's office
  • Sometimes - but prefer to be at home
  • No

At some point in the near future, please log in to your profile and select one of these new options, even if your answer hasn't changed.

And, remember, we still need to keep spreading the word.  One way of getting people to know about Virtual Angels is to talk about it - I am sure that most of you will be socialising a bit more over the Christmas period so why not use Virtual Angels as a conversation point - tell people that you are registered with the Virtual Angels network and that it has over 1800 registered work @ home professionals.  They might be interested in becoming an angel or they might be able to utilise our services.  If anyone refers a client to Virtual Angels we will arrange a bonus for the Angel concerned.

YOUR ONLINE PROFILE (resume) STATUS

There seems to be some confusion as to what is the best option for your online profile status.  The BEST option for your status, if you are actively seeking work is simply ACTIVE

This means that if anyone visits the site looking for an Angel and they conduct a search, if your criteria fits the search they will see your profile and can then choose to request your full resume.  If you are concerned about people viewing your personal details, don't be.  You retain full control over your resume and only when you have accepted a download request will someone receive your full resume which contains your name and phone number.  Until that point they will only view your employment history, qualifications etc, you will be identified by your resume ID number only.

If for some reason for a period of time you are unavailable for work, you can change your status to Inactive.

In the new year we are going to have a good look at all the 'Angels' we have registered because we are selling the service as Work @ Home Professionals, and this is what we want the company reflected as; providing highly skilled, work @ home professionals (and professionals who can also work at a clients office).

  • If your profile has not been activated and was originally created more than three months ago, we will be removing the profile by the end of January.
  • If your profile does not include full resume information (you would be amazed how may Angels have stated - see resume for details in their profile when this is your resume, this is your only chance to sell yourself), we will be suspending the profile by the end of January.
If your profile is suspended or deleted and you would like to discuss this please contact us via our feedback form.

COMPETITION WINNERS

We would like to announce the winners of the competitions from the last newsletter.

The winner of the best Marketing Idea is:  Margaret Seaberg from Sydney.   Margaret will win a $200 voucher of her choice.

The Angel who forwarded our VA flyers out to the most people is: Rhonda Blackmore from Brisbane.  Rhonda wins a $100 voucher of her choice.

We don't have a competition this month, but we would like to challenge you.....  We are offering all Angels the chance to win some money.  We want you to think of ways of spreading the word about our great network of Work @ home (and flexible work at a clients office) Professionals.  If you come up with any ideas in the following categories that we use, we will pay $150.  This can be in the form of a voucher or if you'd prefer the cash, this can be arranged.  So get your thinking caps on!

  • Marketing Ideas
  • Campaign Ideas
  • Promotions
  • Publicity

We've left the link for the VA flyers in this newsletter, so that you can use them to publicise us.
Remember, the more people that know about Virtual Angels and the services we offer, the more likely we are going to be able to help you find work!

FEATURED ANGEL

Judith Bell Photo.jpgJudith Bell (pictured here) is a Virtual Assistant based in Melbourne working regularly for one of our clients.

We asked her a few questions about being a Virtual Assistant and here is what she had to say:

If you would like to relay any questions to Judith, please forward them to us via the feedback form and we'll seek her answers on your behalf.

Question Answer

Noon- 2.00 pm lunch with friends couple of times a week
2.00 pm - Work
3.00 pm - School Run
4.00 - work as necessary (otherwise used for preparing dinner and household chores)
From 5.00 pm - spend time with family and friends
Avg Hours per week 20 hours
Number of Clients 2
Avg hours per client 10
Pros of being a VA Flexibility
Cons of being a VA I do sometimes miss face to face contact with people
Anything else to add? I am very flexible with working times and if work needs to be completed I will work to how ever late it takes to complete it.  I have been known to work until midnight and to start at 5.30 am to meet a deadline.  This is sometimes instigated by my clients with a last minute request but can equally be my own choosing so that I do not miss out on a social or family event.  I have ideal work/life balance.

PS - If you know anyone that would like to advertise their business to over 1800 Angels, predominantly female (sorry guys out there) 20-40 year olds, they can contact us for rates for ads or advertorials.
