Firms looking for an easy way to cut down on their carbon footprint should consider allowing their employees to work from home, according to a smart-working advisor.

Work Wise UK says that as green issues become more high-profile, saving car journeys and commutes into the workplace can save employees time and money as well as helping the environment.

Chief executive of Work Wise UK Phil Flaxton said firms could adopt such practices to help their employees financially as rising fuel and train prices can make it difficult to get to work.

'More people think that if they can work from home one or two days a week; not use the car or not travel on the train, then that is going to help things like carbon emissions,' he adds.
